Finally, I Was Able To Nap

For the first time in years, I was finally able to take a nap. I can’t lie, it felt really good too. I’m pretty sure the last time I was able to nap Barack Obama was still President. No politics here, that was strictly a reference point.
It’s a date I’ll remember fondly down the road, 4/30/21. It will probably the last time I take a nap in a long time. If you’re someone who’s able to nap regularly, I’m jealous. I haven’t been able to do that in so long that I vaguely remember how it feels.
Apparently, it took getting our second Moderna shot for me to be able to nap. The next day was a doozy. We were both so drained of energy that we laid down a few hours after having Starbucks coffee. I didn’t think I would really be able to nap, my snoring said otherwise. I had honestly forgotten how refreshing taking a nap is.
One of my main issues with sleep is my mind is way too active at times. If we’re friends on social media, you’ve seen the random and crazy things I post sometimes. On countless occasions, I’ve had to get up in the middle of the night to write something down, otherwise I would lie there for hours thinking about it.
Some people have the innate ability to nap on cue, I wish I could do that. My wife is a great example of someone who can nap on cue on her off days. Our dog can be licking one of us like crazy, then two minutes later he’s snoring like an old man. Is it wrong that sometimes when he’s sleeping during the day I want to wake him up since I can’t nap too?
Recently, I had a night that I only slept for two hours. You’d think I would have had no problem napping that day, no such luck. How I was functional and coherent that day is beyond me. It’s not a good thing, but my body has adapted to not getting enough sleep. If I get five hours of uninterrupted sleep, that’s a good night.
Some people feel guilty about taking naps. If you’re someone who’s able to nap don’t feel guilty, enjoy it. If my story resonated with you at all I would love to hear your feedback.
